SCALP ACUPUNCTURE

Picture
Scalp Acupuncture is a contemporary acupuncture technique combining traditional Chinese needling methods with Western medical knowledge about the representative areas of the cerebral cortex of the brain. By inserting acupuncture needles superficially into specific areas of the scalp that correspond to areas of the brain that control central nervous system functions, motor activity, sensory input, vision, speech, hearing, and balance can be affected.

Dr. Jiao Shun-fa, a neurosurgeon in China, is the recognized founder of Scalp Acupuncture. He combined modern understanding of neuroanatomy with scalp acupuncture locations to affect the functions of the central nervous system. There are over 40 years of research and empirical evidence on scalp acupuncture for central nervous system damage.

Scalp acupuncture has been proven to be very effective for disorders of the central nervous system, such as:
- Paralysis (post-stroke rehabilitation)
- Parkinson's Disease
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Phantom pain
- Tics
- Chorea
- Tremors

*Dr. Chow, ND is one of the few Naturopathic Doctors with specialized training in Scalp Acupuncture in the GTA
